It's hard to believe that 25 years have passed since the James Beard Foundation officially opened its doors to support the culinary community. Today, the foundation achieves its mission to celebrate, nurture, and preserve America's diverse culinary heritage and future through a variety of programs.

The JBF Scholarship Program continues to be one of the Foundation's most important and successful initiatives, having awarded close to $4 million in financial aid to over 1,400 culinary students since its inception in 1991. These funds help to support the next generation of American chefs on their paths to rewarding careers in the hospitality industry. We hope that the students who receive scholarships today will be showcasing their talents at the Beard House and perhaps even win a James Beard Foundation Award tomorrow.
